- Patents
Patent No: 2003904303 "nerve function and tissue healing" (Inventor: Khalil Z) based on the use of a novel non-invasive sensory nerve stimulation technique to improve nerve function and accelerate wound repair in older adults. This patent is based on studies on sensory neurovascular function in aged rodents that were funded by NHMRC over 94-98 (basic research) and from 2002-2004 (clinical research).

Patent No: 2003905207 "Diagnostics" (Inventor: Khalil Z) based on the use of a novel skin test for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease. This patent is based on studies on peripheral vascular actions of Beta amyloid protein that were funded by NHMRC over 94-98 (basic research) and from 2001-2003 (clinical research).

Australian patent application No PR4094 (provisional patent) "Analgesic Compound" University of Melbourne based on our molecular biology (RACE/PCR) conotoxin gene discovery approach and preliminary biological testing of CTX Vc1.1 in rats, was filed March 29, 2001 (Inventors: Livett BG, Gayler KR, Khalil Z, Down JG, Sandall D and Keays D) and subsequently International Patent Application No. PCT/AU02/00411 filed on 28 March 2002 and designated all PCT member countries (published October 10, 2002).
