"Ageing well is about quality of life. Research holds the
key to unlocking the possibilities of ageing well" |
"We are what we eat." This is true at any
age, particularly as we get older. To ensure you are giving your body the
best nutrition to age well:
- enjoy a wide
variety of nutritious foods
- eat plenty
of breads and cereals (preferably wholegrain), vegetables (including
legumes) and fruits
- eat a diet
low in fat (in particular, saturated fat)
- maintain
a healthy body weight by balancing physical activity and food
intake
- if you drink
alcohol, limit your intake
- eat only
a moderate amount of sugar (and foods containing sugar)
- choose low
salt foods and use salt sparingly
- drink plenty
of fluids, especially water
If you have any concerns about your diet or would
like to know how to improve your nutritional intake, please consult a dietitian
or your doctor.
